Climate change is a problem for animals and the places they call home. The weather is getting weirder. It is getting harder for animals to survive. Their homes are changing fast and animals are having a tough time keeping up. This means it is getting harder for them to find food, water and safe places to live and it is not just animals that are struggling people are too.
Some animals are in a lot of danger like animals that only live in one place or animals that move slowly or animals that are not very many. We can see what is happening to animals in lots of places on land in freshwater and in the ocean. Animals are moving to places there are not as many of them as there used to be and some animals are disappearing completely.
Climate change is also adversely effecting how animals communicate to each other and their surroundings. For example when the seasons change at times flowers might start blooming before the bees that help them are awake or birds might get to the place they migrate to after the food they eat is all gone. Problems that effect one animal population might cascade into issues effecting the larger environment. When one thing in a group of living things gets out of whack it affects everything that is connected to it.
Animals are losing their homes they are getting sick easily and they are not interacting with each other like they used to. All of these things are really bad for animals.. It is not just animals that are hurt by this people are too. When the world around us is healthy it helps people have food, jobs and ways to connect with nature that we need every day. Climate change is a problem for animals and, for people. We need to think about climate change and how it affects animals and people.
